Description
Welcome to the historic Cow Camp Barn! This is unlike any vacation rental you will find in Crested Butte and the term "luxury" comes to mind when describing any part of this exclusive property. Situated on 17 acres and nestled between CB and Mt. CB, this home has an ideal location giving you access within minutes to everything but also offering tranquil privacy from it all.
Enter the private gated entrance and drive up the winding drive taking in the spectacular views along the way. This home is perched in a commanding location at the highest point on the property giving you a panoramic view of downtown, the Slate River, and Mount Crested Butte.
When entering the grand double French doors to the home, you will find the eclectic heart of a restored Monitor style barn, replete with modern glam and clean industrial finishes not often found in mountain retreats. The staging area is like no other with vintage theatre chairs, where you can kick off the ski boots, bike shoes or hiking boots to begin your vacation. Enjoy the custom industrial locker wardrobe closet with built-in boot and glove warmers and multiple charging stations for all your electronics. Just off the staging area is a heated garage/mudroom for skis, boards, fishing poles and bikes.
The first floor central living area contains a built-in entertainment center and luxurious velvet and leather furnishings to take in movie night on a 70 inch QLED TV with a full range of channels and Apple TV compatibility. Curl up next to the restored circa 1867 antique potbelly stove and enjoy the warm glow. If that's not your cup of tea, don't worry, the warm radiant floor heat will keep your feet plenty warm throughout both levels of the home. Stroll over to the luxurious wet bar with dual zone wine and beverage fridge and make the perfect Old Fashioned to take in the view. More of a coffee drinker, then just a few feet away is a coffee station with a professional grade espresso maker for that perfect cup. There is a full bath with elegant vaulted shower just off the living space and next to that a large bedroom with a set of bunks. One set is full over queen, and the other set is twin on top and twin on bottom.
Heading upstairs you can't help but notice the restored antique wrought iron newel post and handrail salvaged from a late 1800's Chicago Greystone. Upstairs you will find another living area with incredible south facing views which allow for both sunrise and sunset viewings. With our spectacular Colorado summer weather and the light cool breeze up the hill off the Slate River, most folks open the French doors to the covered deck and enjoy dining al fresco. Grab the telescope or binoculars and catch a private glimpse of native deer, elk, moose and abundant wildlife enjoying the 50 acres of protected Land Trust surrounding the Slate River.
The upstairs great room has vaulted ceilings and the well equipped kitchen is open concept with an oversized island so that everyone is part of the action. High-end stainless appliances and honed granite countertops make even sandwiches at lunch fun! The living area on this level has lavish furnishings and an additional TV entertainment center so the adults can unwind while the kids watch a movie downstairs. Climb up the custom ladder to a loft space and discover a cozy reading nook with queen bed for lounging.
The luxurious master bedroom has a king bed with luxury mattress and French doors which open out directly to a private balcony with incredible views of Mt. Crested Butte. The owners thought of all the details and every inch of space has been used extremely well to include the custom built-in cabinetry and closets. Close the mirrored sliding barn doors to the master bedroom and sleep in. The 40 inch LED TV and blackout curtains make it feel like a cozy retreat. There is a full bath on this level as well with granite countertops, Kohler and Restoration hardware finishes, and subway tile shower with a turn of the century feel.
Step outside and this property definitely doesn't disappoint! Recline inside the 8 person hot tub and melt away your stress while taking in the majestic views of the slate river valley by day or the clear night sky coupled with the soft glow of downtown CB lights in the distance. In the summer months use either the electric start gas fire pit with cushioned seating just off the hot tub area or meander down the gravel path to the more rustic oversized iron wood fire pit and roast marshmallows. For mountain biking enthusiasts drop onto Slate River Road and bike or head one mile up Gothic to access the Lupine trailhead. If you're feeling like a casual bike to town you can make the trek in minutes. It will quickly become evident that the Cow Camp experience is like none other offered in the area.
Just because you are in the mountains you shouldn't have to sacrifice technology and this house doesn't disappoint - not only is this home Alexa compatible with voice activated controls, the home offers Wi-Fi with boosters for those who need to get away from it all but still conduct business and work while outside either swaying in the hammock under the Aspen trees in the front yard or sitting by the fire enjoying the views. For those rare warm days in CB the owners have even installed air conditioning in the home to keep your family comfortable! Distinctly unique, luxuriously different! Cow Camp Barn is ready to host your family's next CB adventure!
